Black Light
The ultraviolet light, or black light, is only a tool. It is often useful in locating previous restoration. The black light causes pigments, oils and painting media to fluoresce differently. It is not proof of any change or condition, simply a guide of where to look more closely. The following paintings illustrate a variety of conditions the black light shows more clearly.
