Art Conservation Services

Don Pierce

I have been framing pictures, conserving and restoring artwork for fifty years. I began this career in 1960 and worked with Joseph V. Toschi for fifteen years. During this time, we worked for many of the museums in the San Francisco Bay Area.

I served as president of the Professional Picture Framers Association (PPFA) and in several other board capacities. I have chaired committees on paper longevity with TAPPI and worked with ASTM on standards.

I have written articles and taught classes in framing and art conservation in America, Europe, Australia and Japan. I hold 12 U.S. patents for products and was instrumental in writing the first standards for framing care and conservation of art on paper.
